First Mobile Zero-Emission Blood Donation Buses

Many institutions promote actions to donate blood. These informative and dissemination actions are carried out to encourage the user’s participation, hospital staff and all citizens.

There is a still long way to sensibilize people how important blood donation is, as well as making this a regular habit in their lives.

In order to continue promoting this, mobile units have been created for blood donation and cultural activities are helping to do this actions more attractive. For instance, the Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Cartagena played several pieces of music during the collection of blood in their city.

At the 70º anniversary of Blood Donation and Haemotherapy Regional Center in Katowice (Polonia), it was presented the first totally electric mobile unit of blood donation, no emissions. The vehicule taken as model was Solaris Urbino 8.9 LE Electric,  it is a electric and ecological bus.

From inside, Solaris Urbino 8.9 LE Electric could be mistaken with a standard bus, nevertheless, is fully adapted to the requirements of blood donation and collection. This vehicle is equipped with two specials halls to donate blood, doctor office, reception lobby and coffee area. Furthermore, the outside part is composed of awnings and shutters.

The halls to donate blood are equipped with air conditioner, WIFI access and USB connections. This is completed with LED lighting. All of this helps to get more comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for donors. However, the most important advantage is that we can use anda drive this bus in city centre, in areas like sports halls or shopping centers due to its completely ecological and electrical system. A regular bus with a normal motor could not access to this particular areas.
